The Prevention/Intervention Specialist will be an enthusiastic, team player who has a previously demonstrated ability to effectively assess client’s needs, provide resources and direct services. The Prevention/Intervention Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing programs that are focused on the well-being of the Samish Indian Nation’s tribal citizens. Some of these programs will be Mental Health Promotion/Suicide Prevention, Substance Use Disorder Prevention and Recovery Support. The Prevention/Intervention Specialist will work closely with other Samish Indian Nation staff to develop and implement a broad range of culturally appropriate services for the tribal citizens, clients and other eligible community members using local, regional, state and federal funding sources.

1. Develops, coordinates, organizes and facilitates meetings, presentations, trainings and workshops for tribal citizens and clients
2. Develop and manage recovery coach services, facilitate group recovery sessions
3. Provides outreach and resources to tribal citizens through mailings, website, cultural and other tribal events
4. Works closely with other Samish Indian Nation staff to provide holistic, culturally relevant client-based services
5. Attends program trainings and conferences as needed and within the allowable budget(s)
6. Performs day to day outreach and referrals to tribal citizens related to ongoing programs
7. Provides updated budgets, and written reports to Director and granting agency(ies) in a timely manner
8. Keeps data on program participation by tribal citizens and clients and utilizes their input in developing future projects
9. Ensures data entry related to recovery billable services is maintained both timely and accurately
10. Works cooperatively and maintains working relationships with other Samish team members, federal, state and community agencies, schools, service providers, and other tribes
11. Maintains a clean and professional work environment
12. Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA requirements, completing all appropriate documents that authorize release of information
13. Adheres to all Personnel and Financial Policies and Procedures
14. Completes other duties as assigned

1. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field. Equivalent years of experience working in a closely related field that involves client services, grants management and budgetary responsibility may be substituted year- for- year for a four-year college degree
   
2. Thorough understanding of stressors that can impact patients in recovery from opiate use disorders
3. At least two years of professional experience facilitating group sessions with children, youth and adults for prevention, recovery, treatment and support, especially those that are considered to be at risk or in crisis
4. Must have a high degree of knowledge and competency in managing projects related to prevention, recovery and support services
5. Must have an understanding and familiarity with multiple community resources and systems.
6. Must have excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to provide high- quality customer service
7. Moderate to advanced computer skills
8. Decision making skills and initiative to perform assigned duties with a low level of supervision.
9. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and be able to meet the minimum insurance requirements regarding driving record in order to utilize GSA vehicles

1. Chemical Dependency Professional Certification
2. Organized work habits which will assure prompt and accurate submission of reports, grant requests, budgets and other time sensitive materials
3. Leadership ability to produce positive results with funding agencies, contractors, tribal citizens, and other key personnel
4. Identifies as or has experienced someone in recovery from a substance abuse disorder, minimum two years of sustained sobriety, and willingness to support those on a recovery path
5. Knowledge of tribal substance abuse and prevention programs.
6. Ability to set priorities as directed

Physical Demands: Frequent periods of sitting, including driving (60% of time); occasional bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing (20% of time); and occasional standing and walking (20% of time). Occasionally lifts/carries up to 20lbs. Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to use office equipment with frequent repetitive motion such as writing, typing, and phone use. Must possess the ability to view print on a computer screen and/or paper document; the ability to speak and hear exchanging information with end users by telephone Mental/Visual Demands: Frequent mental and/or visual attention to task is required. Occasionally work requires heavy concentration. Occasionally work involves disturbing and emotional subject matter, requiring strong mental and emotional stamina. Frequent interruptions. Tasks involve eye-hand coordination.  Working Environment: Work environment is mainly indoors with heat and some air conditioning. Working environment will may vary day to day. Sometimes works alone without benefit of supervisor or co-worker. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Regular vehicular travel on highways and roads. Regular interaction with high-risk clients including home visits that may be unaccompanied. Work requires minimal risks which require safety precautions (using some cleaning chemicals for light cleaning). Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc.)
