This short, easy read is an excellent overview of traditional Coast Salish cuisine and its myriad preparations. Both historic context and step-by-step instructions are provided for harvesting, preserving, and cooking traditional foods — as well as instructions to build specific fire types and cooking equipment crafted from abundant, wild resources. The annual cycle of travel and harvest culminates with traditional January feasts.
