Description

The Information Technology Network Technician is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of the Tribe’s LAN, WAN, and telecommunication systems. These systems include computers, physical servers, web applications, print management systems, and Office 365 in addition to assisting in general computer support. The IT Network Technician will work closely with the IT Executive Director on information systems management.

Principle Duties
  1. Manages the network and server infrastructure including Microsoft Hyper-V, Active Directory, Antivirus, storage area network
  2. Maintains Next Generation firewall appliances across all the Tribe’s campuses
  3. Orchestrates the implementation of Office 365 advanced features and configurations
  4. Manages and maintains uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
  5. Provides help desk technician support to staff, resolving computer problems and diagnosing issues; receives and records trouble reports from staff and maintains service logs
  6. Maintains tribe’s Unified Communications platform; including desk phone provisioning, and licensing
  7. Analyzes and makes recommendations on the acquisition and use of new information systems technology, including hardware, and software
  8. Helps maintain the Tribes Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations Plans
  9. Works with IT Support Specialist to maintain an accurate list of hardware, software, and license inventory
  10. Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent, server or network certificates desired
  2. Experience with hosted VoIP and Microsoft Teams or equivalent UC platforms
  3. High level of competency with Microsoft’s Office365 and enterprise software including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, Azure AD
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and Outlook
  5. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  6. Flexibility to travel or work outside of normal business hours for research and projects
  7. Possess high level of integrity and initiative
  8. Must be approachable and an effective team manager
  9. Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted for education)
  2. Experience with CIS Critical Security Controls, Risk Management Framework, NIST 800-88
  3. Microsoft Certified Professional certifications in relevant technologies
  4. Understanding of Cisco CCNA

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Long periods of sitting (60% of time); occasional bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing (20% of time); and occasional standing and walking (20% of time). Occasionally lifts/carries up to 20lbs. Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to use office equipment with frequent repetitive motion such as writing, typing, cash-handling, and phone use. Must possess the ability to view print on a computer screen and/or paper document; the ability to speak and hear exchanging information with end users by telephone Mental/Visual Demands: Frequent mental and/or visual attention to task is required. Occasionally work requires heavy concentration. Frequent interruptions. Tasks involve eye-hand coordination. Working Environment: Work environment is mainly indoors with heat and some air conditioning. Must sit or stand at the desk for the majority of shift. Occasionally works alone without benefit of supervisor or co-worker. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Work requires minimal risks which require safety precautions (using some cleaning chemicals for light cleaning). Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc.)
