The mission of the education program is to foster the preservation of Samish culture and traditions and instill a desire for lifelong learning in all Samish tribal citizens.

The following services are for Samish Citizens only and require a website account: 

• Tutoring Support: Financial Assistance is available to Samish Tribal Citizens in grades K-12 or for those completing a GED/ HS Diploma. Payments are made directly to tutors of students with approved assistance plans. Please contact the Education Program directly for the current forms & applications and to coordinate an assistance plan.

Tyee Higher Education Assistance Program

There are two categories of support, Undergraduate and Post Baccalaureate. There are no geographical or adult age limits for this program, though Samish Citizenship is required. If you are interested in this program, please reach out. I am always available to answer your questions and help guide you through the application process.

Tyee Supplemental Education Assistance Program

This program is for Samish Citizen students attending K-12 schools who require tutoring assistance to achieve grade level standards. It is also open to students/adults who are seeking support which would allow them to complete the requirements for their GED or equivalent certificate. Please contact Denise directly for more information. The Course Completion Incentive Program has been discontinued as of January 2024 per Tribal Council Resolution 2024-02-001.

Since Time Immemorial Work

Since Time Immemorial is a Washington State Native Education Curriculum developed by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction in collaboration with tribes for all Public Schools in the state. Samish is working closely with the Anacortes School District, Burlington School District, other regional school districts, and the Anacortes based Educational Service District 189 to help with implementation of the curriculum, and to provide specific Samish history and culture content and perspective for schools within Samish traditional territory.
