Description

The Enterprise Senior Accountant will team with the Enterprise Managers and finance staff at all levels in performing, reviewing, and/or authorizing general ledger, inventory reports and analysis, payroll back-up, accounts receivable and payable functions for all enterprise activities.

Principle Duties
  1. Drives the month-end closing process, including Journal Entries and general ledger analysis.
  2. Prepares monthly account reconciliations, including Point of Service transactions/POS, credit card, bank reconciliations, Due to/From Samcor/Samish
  3. Works with enterprise site managers to understand inventory transactions, maintain month end and year-end inventory reports as relates to the general ledger.
  4. Acts as finance lead for annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts; work with site managers responsible for these processes to assure timely and accurate financial reporting implications.
  5. Assists with requests from external auditors for enterprise audits.
  6. Provides oversight, support, and backup for accounts payable processing, including recording of ACH transactions.
  7. Provides oversight, support, and backup for revenues recording.
  8. Provides support and backup for payroll processing.
  9. Prepares assigned information reports ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  10. Analyzes budgets and informs relevant enterprise management when budget modifications are needed.
  11. Processes budget modifications and communicates to stakeholders when they are complete.
  12. Ensures purchase orders, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies are resolved, and that documentation is complete.
  13. Retains general proficiency of all day-to-day activities of the finance department.
  14. Develops extensive knowledge in the enterprises’ accounting policies and procedures.
  15. Assists with the maintenance of compliance requirements as required in Tribal code and internal controls as required by enterprise policy and generally accepted accounting principles.
  16. Works closely with the enterprise managers and Finance Executive Director regarding Enterprise budget to actual comparisons
  17. Works cooperatively with Samish Council, Samcor Board, tribal and enterprise employees
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  1. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  2. Must have three or more years of accounting experience in a general business environment.
  3. Must have experience in inventory cycle counts and analysis.
  4. Most possess a strong understanding of GAAP and the accounting cycle.
  5. Experience with accounting software is required, preferably Abila MIP Fund Accounting, or convenience store and gas station software such as SSCS, or reservation software.
  6. Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn new accounting software.
  7. Must possess proven analytical/conceptual skills required to identify issues and recommend and implement solutions.
  8. Must have capacity for accurate data entry, reconciliation, and file management with related experience.
  9. Must possess the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
  10. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
  11. Must be able to lift/carry up to 20lbs

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Extended periods of sitting (60% of time); occasional bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing (20% of time); and occasional standing and walking (20% of time). Occasionally lifts/carries up to 20lbs. Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to use office equipment with frequent repetitive motion such as writing, typing, paperwork-handling, and phone use. Must possess the ability to view print on a computer screen and/or paper document; the ability to speak and hear exchanging information with end users by telephone Mental/Visual Demands: Frequent mental and/or visual attention to task is required. Occasionally work requires heavy concentration. Frequent interruptions. Tasks involve eye-hand coordination. Working Environment: Work environment is mainly indoors with heat and some air conditioning. Must sit or stand at desk for the majority of shift. Occasionally work alone without the benefit of supervisor or co-worker. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Work requires minimal risks which require safety precautions (using some cleaning chemicals for light cleaning). Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc.)
